"Solomon Grundy"

This English Nursery rhyme has varied very little since it was first collected by James Orchard Halliwell and published in 1842

Solomon Grundy,
Born on a Monday,
Christened on Tuesday,
Married on Wednesday,
Took ill on Thursday,
Grew worse on Friday,
Died on Saturday,
Buried on Sunday.
This is the end
Of Solomon Grundy.

Summer Time ~ Tortoise Orchard / Rabbit Haie

La Haie or Haie (Hey) is a Norman term dating from the 12th Century referring to a hedged enclosure. The Area from the left of the Picture to the center is heavy with brambles and growth and the home to rabbit families.
A small maze of footpaths enable access through Rabbit Haie.

To see the Summer Sky
Is Poetry, though never in a Book it lie -
True Poems flee.
~Emily Dickinson

Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability. ~Sam Keen

Summer has set in with its usual severity. ~Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language. ~Henry James

Then followed that beautiful season... Summer....
Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape
Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

How to Grow the "Megga-Brow"

Coleslaw is the Key:
I must brag...that I'm famous among a small group of regulars for my coleslaw. The basic ingredients are shaved cabbage, green peppers, finely chopped pimiento, and pineapple. Over this goes a dressing of mayonnaise, a liberal amount of both dry mustard and prepared mustard, the juice of six lemons, olive oil, cider vinegar, hot peppers, and a magic mixture of spices and herbs that I buy from a restaurant in Hollywood, the Cock 'n Bull.

Love always, Joan
. . . you are under my power

My New York ~ 120,000 Calories

At least twice a month for the past five years I have had occasion to walk by a small snack shop in midtown Manhattan. My attention is always drawn to the Cherry Cheese Cake featured on the third shelf of the desert counter. I have not as yet stopped to partake of this tempting treat. Estimating that one slice contains at least 1000 calories I figure I have saved at least 120,000 calories.

Happy Birthday Tuna ~

Tuna has lived with me for the past several years now.
He has feline immune deficiency (Kitty Aids).
When I found him he was stumbling around, not seeing very well due to an eye infection that caused his eyes to bulge and loss of site in one eye.
He must be isolated from the other cats as he is contagious.
Initially the vet wanted to euphamize him ... I quickly went to another vet.
He is now in very good condition, happy, sweet as a clam and could live a healthy life for a number of years.
That's Newbie behind the pillow.
