My New York ~ 120,000 Calories

At least twice a month for the past five years I have had occasion to walk by a small snack shop in midtown Manhattan. My attention is always drawn to the Cherry Cheese Cake featured on the third shelf of the desert counter. I have not as yet stopped to partake of this tempting treat. Estimating that one slice contains at least 1000 calories I figure I have saved at least 120,000 calories.

Happy Birthday Tuna ~

Tuna has lived with me for the past several years now.
He has feline immune deficiency (Kitty Aids).
When I found him he was stumbling around, not seeing very well due to an eye infection that caused his eyes to bulge and loss of site in one eye.
He must be isolated from the other cats as he is contagious.
Initially the vet wanted to euphamize him ... I quickly went to another vet.
He is now in very good condition, happy, sweet as a clam and could live a healthy life for a number of years.
That's Newbie behind the pillow.

A Snowy January Day

Collecting ~ Animals

Porcelain Elephant 6"
Germany ~ circa 1930's

The elephant is the largest animal that lives on land.

They have the largest brains in the animal kingdom

Elephants can live for up to 70 years

Elephants cry, play, have incredible memories, and laugh!

Some male elephants can grow to be thirteen feet tall.

Elephants sleep standing up.

They poop 80 pounds in one day.

Elephants are very social, frequently touching and caressing one another and entwining their trunks.

Elephants demonstrate concern for members of their families, they take care of weak or injured members and appear to grieve over a dead companion.

Elephants seem to be fascinated with the tusks and bones of dead elephants, fondling and examining them. The myth that they carry them to secret "elephant burial grounds," however, has no factual base.

Please don't ever buy Ivory. Save an elephant and make your money work for them not against them. If you travel to exotic places or even to a shopping mall near you, never buy anything that looks like ivory as it probably is. Make your voice count and say "NO" to ivory.
